Field Engineer

Accountabilities

  • A seasoned Field Engineer will work with Commnet Supply Operations Group to drive a cross-functional team in the deployment of wireless infrastructure. This is a key position and will report directly to the SRA Manager/Network Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work with customers efficiently with high satisfaction.

  • Solving problems associated with scope, schedule & resources.

  • Identifying resource needs and making real-time tradeoffs as required

  • Overseeing the input and buy-in process from appropriate functional areas for effective product deployment. ·        

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years experience with telecommunications service installation and wiring.

  • Effective troubleshooting and problem resolution skills, including the use of complex test equipment.

  • Proven customer relationship skills.

  • Telecommunications service provider management experience.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills.

  • Strong inter-personal and communications skills.

  • Ability to work independently and meet scheduled deadlines.

  • Team player

  • Experience in deployment of medium to large Greenfield wireless system builds.

  • Technically competent as well as commercially savvy with firm grasp of trends in the converging telecom services marketplace.

  • A critical thinker with attention to detail who regularly seeks innovative solutions to complex issues.

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

  • Experience with T1, DS3, Sonet/SDH, CO Cross Connect equipment, and DSX/Optical panels.

  • Experience with various telephony cables and termination tools.

  • Familiarity with Unix based workstations and routers is a plus.

  • Excellent customer interface and interpersonal skills.

Education

  • A minimum of an Associates degree in electronics or  telecommunications, advanced degree in business administration, finance, management or relevant social sciences desirable.  

  • Requires 2-3 years field experience hands-on with Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia Siemens, Ericsson and associated equipment.
